Steven Klein "chooses to paint in a folk art, primitive, or naive style in order to transcend the structures and confines of traditional realism of which he had become a master. Folk Art or primitive art, as an expression of optimism, allows for the use of bright, vivid colors, simplicity of forms, fine details, and subject matter as diverse as an old country farm, a Victorian park, or modern seashore. He creates what he calls 'magic perspective' enabling the viewer to observe the scene from many different points at the same time."
